I can give you our history, I can give you the team's biographies,
I can show you all of our links and pages, but nothing will
give you a better picture of what SpokenAgaist is than hearing from
the people who are SpokenAgainst: our supporters.
I've been compiling a list of comments for a while now, and as I go
back and read them, I've realized that no one can give you a better
picture of what SpokenAgainst than the people I started this
for.
The owner, Fink, is amazingly nice. And this site has helped
many, and more to come. A lot of people actually care about the
GLBT and people will soon start to see that, thanks to
SpokenAgainst and other little sites.
SpokenAgainst has vindicated my belief that the world can be
changed with just a small group of people. I also have been given a
place where I know I can help others and make a difference.
I'm straight, but I think that everyone should be accepted. Who
cares if you're different? Everybody should have the right to fall
in love and get married. It doesn't matter if you're straight, gay,
lesbian, or bi. I'm thrilled that SpokenAgainst is working to show
everyone that and spread some love. Thanks!!! Oh, and Fink is
awesome! :-D
I have a cousin that isn't straight, and a few friends as
well... I have seen how badly they were treated, and it totally
sickens me... I want to help them some how, and when I read what
"Fink" had done, it really touched me that she wanted to help, I
want to be like that and help the people that have to suffer just
'cuz they're gay..
Why do I want to join? I read the main bit of the group and
although I’ve had people insult me and friends/family because of
sexual preferences I’ve never really thought of it as much of an
issue (being thick skinned as I am) until now. I read that and it
raised a passion in me which I thought shouldn't be ignored. I'd
happily help with anything needed done in the group and I’m a
willing shoulder to cry on for anyone.
I was deeply inspired by your story. Last year I was silent and
got harassed but I have always been since I came out. Thanks for
the story and I told all my nearest and dearest friends.
This is so cool! What you’re doing is something a lot of us
aren’t brave enough to do! I send you the best of luck and ill try
to get a ton of people to add you! :)
People are always telling me I can't make a difference. I think
they're wrong. Even if I’m "too young" to protest I can get
involved using the internet. I use SpokenAgainst to help spread the
love and make a difference. So don't ever let people tell you there
is no way to help fight for your rights and the rights of
others!
SpokenAgainst is much more than just a group to me...it is a
reason to keep fighting. It lets me know I'm not alone and that my
friends and I will someday be able to live in peace. Me and my girl
friend are together and happy but people look at us like were a
monstrosity or an abomination to god. When I go online and I see
this it lets me know were not the only ones struggling and fighting
to be ourselves in public. It’s made it a lot easier to hold her
hand and kiss her before classes like straight couples do without
hesitation. We are in love and everyday it’s getting easier to show
people. We feel more accepted knowing that SpokenAgainst exists.
Thanks so much for everything you’ve done Fink and of course anyone
who is a proud member of spoken against!!!<3
SpokenAgainst has made an impact on me in unknown ways. They are
only unknown because I found out about it after I've made it
through. SpokenAgainst makes a difference in my life because it's a
way that I can help people and make a difference when all along I'd
think to myself that I can't change anything. SpokenAgainst has
proven me wrong.
SpokenAgainst is a chance at change. A chance for those who have
been silenced to make their voices heard. To raise their fists in
an act of revolution against the seemingly undying regime of
ignorance and intolerance.
We don't live in a world that is truly accepting; for race,
gender, orientation or religion. Groups like this-- that spread
awareness and plan to help those who feel helpless and ashamed;
ashamed for reasons that aren't their fault and overall, shouldn't
be a problem in the first place-- really make a difference, big and
small, to change our outlook. I'd really be proud to say that I am
a part of this group, a safe place for those who need to talk, to
be themselves, and to eventually dispel the negativity over
orientation/gender identity rights.
SpokenAgainst has been a way for me to fill the need I have to
help people be okay in their own skin, and has, believe it or not,
really helped me be more okay with myself and everything about me,
regardless of how the way I am may upset more close-minded people.
This has been the one endeavor that I've remained devoted to the
longest and the only form of community service that I've ever
poured my heart and soul into. Not only that, but I know I'm safe
whenever I'm talking to anyone on SpokenAgainst, regardless of the
site profile I'm on, because I know that everyone that I'm talking
to has some idea of what it's like to be me, to not be 'normal',
and it's nice to know you're not the only one.
I don't think I'd be as good a person as I am today if it hadn't
been for SpokenAgainst.
Fink, you are amazing.
I was touched, to say the least, by everything I read on the
main page. The fact that one person's tolerance and support of
equal rights can get thousands of peoples' attention is astonishing
to me. I want to join this group not only because of its
impressiveness, but also because I think it would be a lot of fun
to chat and talk with other people who share the same ideals as
me.
